From 1965-1968, he studied in Rome at S.Anselmo, gaining a Master’s degree in Sacred Liturgy. He was elected Superior of the New Norcia community in 1971. In 1984, he was appointed Parish Priest of Moora, where he spent four years working with the Nyoongar people. He gained a PhD in Indigenous Research in 2003, and has published a Nyoongar Dictionary, as well as The Nyoongar Legacy: The Naming of the Land and the Language of its People and, most recently, The Way of the Boorna-Waangki: A Tale of Cultural Endurance.
